FOUR San Francisco Locations Open 12 - 8 PM DAILY

Notes from Nate: Picking a great Old Forester barrel has been difficult the last few years. Barrel samples are limited and demand is so high that even average barrels sell quickly. But I'm not looking for something average so for 3 years running I've politely passed. That changed in October when Old Forester organized an event with top buyers and dozens of barrel samples to choose from. Historically I prefer barrels from the top two floors, 7 and 8, but this time I found an absolute gem from floor 6. Still all the great extraction and depth from a top floor Old Forester but with a more balanced and refined profile. For Old Forester fans this is a must have!
COLOR – gorgeous and vibrant russet oranges
NOSE – strong! with wave after wave of fresh fruits like apricot and peach, lovely toasted vanilla, caramelized brown sugar and cinnamon, eventually a nice baked banana note rolling through everything like a warm mist
PALATE – thick syrupy texture; the heat gives way to a tasty merging of the sweet fruit and caramel aspects, now with an added chocolate note; long lingering finish
