Tasting Notes
Pours a beautiful dark amber-brown, with an oily viscosity. On the nose notes of dark
toffee, peanut brittle, burnt caramel, bran muffin, elderflower and cinnamon. The aromas
are rich and engaging while having a weightiness and warming quality that makes you
want to sit in front of a cozy fireplace. On the palate notes of brown sugar, apricot,
cherry cola, pumpernickel, jasmine, hay and leather. Every sip adds more layers and
complexity, there’s an inherent roundness even at cask strength that ties everything
together. The finish has a nice fullness, like a medium booty, with notes of toasted
granola, dried cranberries and savory herbs. It leaves me with a tingly sensation on the
back of my tongue from the smooth lingering tannins.
