Product description

Booker's Batch No. 2022-02, known as "The Lumberyard Batch," is a unique and highly regarded addition to the Booker's Bourbon collection. This batch is a tribute to the early years of Booker Noe, the legendary master distiller, who worked in a lumberyard before joining the family trade at Jim Beam. This experience is believed to have shaped his strong work ethic and curiosity, key attributes that he later brought to his role in the whiskey industry.

"The Lumberyard Batch" was released in August 2022 and comes with a proof of 124.8. It has been aged for 7 years, 1 month, and 7 days. The bourbon presents a dark amber color, indicating its rich flavor profile. The mashbill consists of 77% corn, 13% rye, and 10% malted barley.

Tasting notes for this batch describe a unique and enjoyable flavor profile. The nose features a blend of pecan, cedar, cinnamon stick, vanilla, honey, and a touch of malt, giving it a bold and spicy character. On the palate, it offers flavors of butter pecan pie, toasted graham cracker, burnt toffee, and pear, creating a sweet and distinctive taste. The finish is marked by dry oak, licorice, leather, brown sugar, and cinnamon, leaving a lasting impression of leather and cinnamon.

This bourbon, with its approachable intensity despite its high proof, is considered one of the more memorable Booker's pours in recent memory. It not only carries the traditional flavors expected from Booker's batches, like cinnamon, brown sugar, and leather but also adds its unique twist, making it stand out.

"The Lumberyard Batch" is recognized for maintaining the high quality and flavor profile consistent with the Booker's brand, while offering the unique taste that differentiates it from other batches. This batch is not just a testament to Booker Noe's legacy but also a celebration of his life's journey and the experiences that shaped him.

MASTER DISTILLER NOTES

The batch is made up of five production dates that were aged in seven different warehouses. The breakdown of barrel storage for Booker’s “The Lumberyard Batch” is as follows:

2% came from the 4th floor of 7-story warehouse X

3% came from the 3rd floor of 7-story warehouse 5

3% came from the 4th floor of 9-story warehouse D

17% came from the 4th floor of 7-story warehouse Z

19% came from the 5th floor of 7-story warehouse Q

28% came from the 4th floor of 7-story warehouse 1

28% came from the 6th floor of 7-story warehouse Z

This batch was pulled during the rainy weeks ahead of the Kentucky Derby. The beautiful amber color of this batch is reminiscent of the horses that will compete on the racetrack. The aroma is deep with hints of vanilla and oak that lead you back to enjoy it several times to explore its depth. It has a balanced taste with a bit of sweetness and a pleasant finish that will leave you longing for another sip. My dad would be really proud to have a batch dedicated to his hard-working years at The Lumberyard and the experience this liquid delivers with every glass.
