Max Rudsten and Ben Flajnik decided to make San Francisco's first small batch Fernet. Introduced to the Bay Area by pre-Prohibition Italian immigrants, Amaro has a longstanding tradition in a city that boasts massive consumption of bitters. Now, Max and Ben have added Ruibardo to the roster. Made with the help of Farid Dormishian, owner and master distiller of Falcon Spirits, Ruibardo is built on a Fernet base of 12 local organic herbs and rhubarb infused in grape brandy and organic natural grain spirit. 40% ABV.
Flavor Profile: Gorgeous licorice-black in the glass, this Fernet shows fresh fruity rhubarb, orange zest, anise, bay leaves, peppermint, and hints of eucalyptus. Great in cocktails or straight up.
