Brandy, Cognac, Pisco, and Grappa, primarily distilled from grapes (occasionally apples, pears and other fruit), range from 40% to 60% ABV. Brandy is produced worldwide from fermented fruit, while Cognac, a regional French variant, is double-distilled from select grapes. Pisco, from South America, and Grappa, from Italy, demonstrate regional production styles, from ageing in barrels to using grape pomace (stems & seeds).
